The seventh Dartford Indoor Mela took place on Saturday October 24 at the Mick Jagger. The Mela was organised by the North West Kent Racial Equality Council in partnership with Cohesion Plus and was supported by Dartford Borough Council and the Arts Council. The Mela celebrated the diversity of Dartford through music, food and dance.

The first ever Dartford Festival of Light took place on Friday October 16 through Dartford Town Centre between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The parade involved 11 schools from Dartford who worked with renowned arts company Emergency Exit Arts in the build up to the event. In total over 450 young pupils benefited from arts workshops in the build up to the event. The children made lanterns and torches which they carried in the parade. The second Gravesham Festival of Light will take place on Friday October 23 through Gravesend Town Centre between 6.30pm and 7pm.  The parade will involve 13 schools from Gravesham who will be working with renowned arts company Samesky in the build up to the event.  In total over 450 young pupils will benefit from arts workshops.  The children will make lanterns and torches which they will carry in the parade.
