Dartford Mela 2010 September 25th

The Dartford Mela for the first time will take place outdoors at the band stand area of Central Park on Saturday September 25 between 1.30pm and 6pm.

Saint Georges Day

Over 700 young people from 19 schools in Gravesham took  part in a schools parade through Gravesend town centre on April 23 to celebrate Saint Georges Day.  The event was been organised by Kent Equality Cohesion Council in partnership with Cohesion Plus supported by Gravesham Borough Council and Kent County Council.

Gravesham Festival of Light

Gravesend town centre was brought to a standstill on Friday evening as over 600 schools children, teachers, parents and members of the public were involved in the Festival of Light parade in the second Gravesham Festival of Light parade. The project involved work with 13 schools from Gravesham in the build up. The schools worked with renowned arts company Samesky. In total over 450 young pupils benefited from arts workshops. Dartford Festival of Light

The first ever Dartford Festival of Light took place on Friday October 16 through Dartford Town Centre between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The parade involved 11 schools from Dartford who worked with renowned arts company Emergency Exit Arts in the build up to the event. In total over 450 young pupils benefited from arts workshops in the build up to the event. The children made lanterns and torches which they carried in the parade. Maidstone Mela weekend

This year’s Maidstone Mela is set to be the biggest yet with a weekend of festivities planned for all the family.

The Mela, which means gathering, has attracted more than 35,000 people since it began in 2003 and this year is expected to be no different as it expands for the first time into a two-day event.
