Maidstone Mela Launch 2010

The formal launch of the Maidstone Mela took place on July 14 with some 350 children joined by teachers and parents parading through the town centre led by Dhol Players, African Drummers and the Bloco Fogo Samba Group. The launch was made possible due to funding secured from Arts Council England.

Gravesham Big Gig

Over 1500 people attended the Big Gig on Friday July 23 to formally launch the Big Day Out Weekend. The Big Gig was organised in partnership by Gravesham Borough Council and Cohesion Plus. The focus this year was on showcasing primarily the young talent that exists in the borough. Performances on the night included Taboo who recently appeared in the semi finals of “Britain has got Talent”, Street dance group True Kaizen, local hip hop act Maximus who will be releasing his debut album soon...

Saint Georges Day

Over 700 young people from 19 schools in Gravesham took  part in a schools parade through Gravesend town centre on April 23 to celebrate Saint Georges Day.  The event was been organised by Kent Equality Cohesion Council in partnership with Cohesion Plus supported by Gravesham Borough Council and Kent County Council.

Dartford Festival of Light

The first ever Dartford Festival of Light took place on Friday October 16 through Dartford Town Centre between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. The parade involved 11 schools from Dartford who worked with renowned arts company Emergency Exit Arts in the build up to the event. In total over 450 young pupils benefited from arts workshops in the build up to the event. The children made lanterns and torches which they carried in the parade.
