Tunbridge Wells Mela Launch 2009

The launch of the Tunbridge Wells Mela will take place on July 1 between 10.30am and 11.30am. This will be our first ever launch event and will be involving 225 pupils from 4 local schools as well as Bloco Fogo Samba and Four by Four Dhol Group. This has been made possible due to the funding we managed to from Arts Council England.

The schools which are taking part are Rusthall St Pauls, St Mathews, Claremont Primary and St Augustine’s. They have all been working with the Arts Company...

Maidstone Mela Launch 2009

The formal launch of the Maidstone Mela will take place on July 7 between 10.30am and 11.30am.  This will be our biggest launch event to date involving 300 pupils from 6 local schools as well as a range of culturally diverse artists including Bloco Fogo and Cultural Beats.

This has been made possible due to the funding we managed to secure from the Arts Council England.  This follows on from the successful St George’s Day celebrations which we organised in partnership with Maidstone...

Listen to Our Voices Women’s Event

Over 350 women and young girls over the age of 14 attended the Sadi Awaaz Suno (Listen to our Voices) event held at the Woodville Halls in Gravesham on Friday March 27.  The event was organised in partnership by Rethink Sahayak, North West Kent Racial Equality Council and Cohesion Plus.

The aim of the event was to look at issues such as domestic violence, forced marriages, women’s health issues and the different support services available to women in Gravesham.

Medway Mela

The first ever Medway Mela took place on Saturday October 25 at the Black Lion Leisure Centre in Mill Road Gillingham. The Mela which was a free event was organised by the Medway Gurdwara Council with the support of Cohesion Plus and was funded largely by Awards for All.
