The first ever Dartford High Street Carnival of Summer organised by Cohesion Plus in partnership with Kent Equality Cohesion Council and Dartford Borough Council with the support of Arts Council England takes place on July 10. The Carnival will feature 4 local schools and some 250 children who have been working with one of the leading carnival companies in the UK, The Great British Carnival who delivered workshops in schools in the build-up to the event.

The aim of the Carnival is to celebrate the rich heritage of Dartford, to celebrate the High Street and provide an opportunity for children to learn new skills around costume and prop making.

Alongside the Great British Carnival other artistic partners include Rhythm of the City Samba, Steel Ambition and Four by Four Bhangra Group who will all be performing in the High Street between 12.30pm and 1.30pm before the Carnival starts from Central Park around 1.35pm.

Gurvinder Sandher the Artistic Director of Cohesion Plus commented “We are really excited about our first ever Carnival event in Dartford. We are looking forward to bringing the High Street to a standstill with a parade full of colour, sound and vibrancy. I am really pleased that Dartford Borough Council and local traders have got behind Carnival as it not only celebrates Dartford and its heritage but also highlights the importance of the High Street to the borough.”
