Snodland Shines Bright at Spectacular Christmas Light and Lantern Parade
Snodland sparkled with festive magic on Saturday 29th November as hundreds of residents lined the streets for the annual Snodland Christmas Light and Lantern Parade, delivered in partnership with Cohesion Plus and Snodland Town Council.
In the lead-up to the event, pupils from local schools took part in special creative workshops led by Same Sky Arts, producing a stunning collection of Christmas-themed lanterns. These unique creations were proudly showcased by students during the parade, adding colour, warmth and creativity to the evening’s celebrations.
The artistic programme brought the High Street to life with vibrant performances. Bloco Fogo filled the air with electrifying samba festival rhythms, while DDFK delighted crowds with upbeat brass renditions of much-loved Christmas classics. Rounding out the musical entertainment were The Kings of Dhol, whose signature high-energy Punjabi drumming had audiences cheering and dancing along.
The festivities reached a joyful climax as Father Christmas arrived in style on a festive sledge, greeting families and children as excitement built for the big moment. Following a community countdown, the Snodland Christmas lights were switched on to resounding applause, illuminating the town centre and marking the official start of the festive season.
Gurvinder Sandher, MBE, Artistic Director of Cohesion Plus commented;
“Snodland once again demonstrated the very best of community spirit. The lanterns created by local young people, combined with the incredible artistic talent in our programme, made for a magical evening. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Snodland Town Council for their continued support and enthusiasm—Snodland residents are lucky to have a town council that cares so much. We look forward to building on this success in the years ahead.”
