The village of Wrotham plays host to the 3rd Wrotham Festival of Fusion and Light on Friday October 16th. Highlights include a lantern parade, an exciting programme of music and a spectacular fireworks display.
Organised in partnership by Cohesion Plus, Kent Equality Cohesion Council, and the schools in the Pilgrims Way Partnership working with Tonbridge Malling Borough Council, the Festival takes place in 2 distinct parts. During the first phase there will be a lantern parade between 6.15pm and 6.45pm involving some 200 young people as well as the Bloco Fogo Samba Group and the Bollywood Brass Band. The parade will climax at the Wrotham Cricket Ground where the Fusion element of the Festival takes place. There will be live performances by vocalist Mark Lees, Bloco Fogo Samba, and the award winning Bollywood Brass Band. The stage programme will be hosted by comedy duo Payne and Pearce.
Gurvinder Sandher the Artistic Director of Cohesion Plus commented “It is a great pleasure for us to work again in Wrotham. Most of our work takes place in an urban setting so to be able to work in a rural setting and to be able to transform part of a village is very exciting. I am very grateful to all of our local community partners, Tonbridge Malling Borough Council and Arts Council England for their help and support with this project. Events like this provide unique opportunities for young people to be able to experience the arts.”
